We are not defined by our experiences but enriched in how we respond to them.

True healing is at the core of my practice

This means clients are offered a space that supports them to explore what is actually behind what they’re coming for counselling for – be that, up and down emotions, stress and overwhelm, selling themselves short or putting themselves last, issues they seem to come up against time and time again etc. and subsequently have more clarity of what there is to let go of, realize or change in the process

We are human beings with bodies that have moved and lived every moment of our lives – every single incident, every choice made, event, experience ‘good’ or ‘bad’, high points or low points. When we don’t let our body express what it is sensing, then we can set up coping mechanisms and unhealthy ways to manage the tension of that, and subsequently respond in ways we would rather not.

We often don’t like to talk about what we sense around us, and there are many outside influences that may be telling us outright or implying – “you can’t say that”, “you can’t ask that” and “you can’t expose that”… so we may give up and say nothing, or lash out and complicate things. Together we will explore:

  • ways in which you may hold your expression back;
  • how you deal with tension and situations in life;
  • the power of self-awareness and self-love; and
  • simple steps to reconnecting with your strengths and the value of you.

If this is something you’re interested in….. let’s go there!

Frequently Asked Questions

Have a chat with me. I offer free 30 minute connect sessions for this very question. I feel this is one of the most important parts to any form of therapy.

No. I’m a private counsellor and do not require a referral from clients. Only a psychologist or psychiatrist require a referral from a GP.

No. If a diagnosis is something you are looking for, then speaking with your GP would help you with obtaining that, through a qualified psychologist or psychiatrist.

Your health and wellbeing is the most important consideration to me, if I feel that further support is needed, then we would discuss this together and the different options available.

I have a really great appointment software called Cliniko that takes care of all your booking needs. Once you click on the ‘Book your appointment with Aimee’ button, you will be automatically taken to a new window where you can select the session you would like to book. Once you click on the ‘session’ name, you will be asked to fill out your details. The calendar will then display for you to select the best time and date that works for you.

Welcome,

I’ve worked in many areas over my life and no matter what it has been, in Administration, Corporate, Education, Training, Child Care, Employment, or Health and Healing, there has always been a pull to connect and support others. So when we moved to Canada with my husband and two sons in 2014, it felt very natural to offer counselling. I trained with Vancouver College of Counsellor and Training and graduated in 2019 with a Diploma of Professional Counselling and a Youth and Family Support Worker Certificate.

I currently work in Corporate and see first hand how many are struggling to manage the current climate with covid, to find harmonious balance between work and family, address the challenges of working from home, nominate relationship tensions that they are experiencing, being honest about the angst from being separated from family and friends, and not knowing how to deal with the anxiety and tension of what’s next and how that will play out. There is no question that what we are experiencing now will potentially have life long consequences for many of us.

I love what counselling offers as a foundation and how it supports working collaboratively with others in an equal and respectful way, to empower and confirm their strengths. When we work from a strength based approach it opens up the space to shed attachments to things we can’t control and embrace the simplicity of living what we naturally know is true in life.

It has been a joy to live, work and explore the beauty of Canada and meet its many diverse citizens. My favourite things are being with people, working in groups, hiking and taking photos, walking with my husband and dog and connecting with family and friends.

If you or someone close to you is looking for some extra or ongoing support, please do get in touch.

Warm regards,

Aimee
